Barbaro walked onto the sweet grass of the place he and the mare he loved would meet. He gazed around slowly to see if she was somewhere in sight. As he did not see her, he began to think, What if she does not come? What if this is all a trick? No, don't think that was Barbaro! You love her and you can trust her! He felt a stab of guilt for letting himself think like that. "Gosh! What an idiot!" He lowered his head to nibble at the sweet grass.

Hooves fell rapidly as she came; the mare had never before been so happy. Finally she saw him, munching while he waited. "Barbaro!" Kestrel called in ecstasy, her speed increasing even more. Nearer she came, and skidded to a halt right in front of him, immediately stretching out to nuzzle him.

Barbaro threw his head up in delight. "Kestral!" He stretched his head out and nuzzled her lovingly. His heart beat fast as he felt the warmth of her beautiful body.

After a few more moments, she asked, "So, how have you been? And... how is your leg?" Though it was obvious that the leg couldn't have made any progress in a single day, the mare was just eager for him to be able to be independent of Lightning.

Barbaro smiled at her enthusiasm. "To tell you the truth, I think it will be strong enough in a couple months!" he beamed. "But, what about you? How has my love been?"

"Really? That is sooner than I had even dreamed of!" she said hopefully. "I have been fine, but... lonely without you. But... but what about when the time does come? Are you going to face Lightning, or just run?" She didn't know which would be wiser. If Barbaro lost, he would be worse off then before, but who knows how Lightning might react if Barbaro simply disappeared.

"I would face him, for there is no other way. If I don't... He could hunt me down. But if I am really lucky, he will let me go without a battle!" Barbaro said excitedly. "I would do anything for you!"

"I think then will be the time for us both to talk to him, because if it goes ill, you won't be under his hoof anymore," she said, eyes staring at nothing as she imagined and hoped what the future held. "Whether he likes it or not, he won't be able to prevent you from leaving." Kestrel moved closer to him, just enjoying his nearness.
(I can't wait for summer. We're not gonna be able to rp only this type of thing every day. ^-^)

(yeah ) Barbaro felt the warmness of Kestrels body. "No, he cannot stop me, and he will not." Barbaro thought of the day that he would be able to live on his own, with his one true love.

Barbaro noticed some movement around him. "Did you see that Kestrel?" he asked. He watched the bushes for awhile.

Kes didn't say anything for a few moments. "Could be a squirrel or a rabbit," she eventually responded, glancing at him. Cautiously, she moved a few steps closer, leaning down slightly. With both front hooves she stamped, trying to get whatever it was to move out from the cover.

A panther moved out from it's cover and jumped toward Kestrel.
Barbaro jumped just in time to save Kestrel from the panther. It latched onto his neck while Barbaro wheeled around trying to through it off. He rolled to the ground, crushing the panther under him.
